Father and sons named as victims in Lloydminster triple homicide

Father and sons named as victims in Lloydminster triple homicide

CBC
Tuesday, September 17, 2024 6:19 AM GMT

A father and his two adult sons have been named as the victims in a triple homicide in Lloydminster, Sask., last week.

Brent Peters, 66, Brennan Peters, 34, and Matthew Peters, 32, were found dead inside a home on the evening of Sept. 11, RCMP say.

Their bodies were found after officers were called to conduct a wellness check at a bungalow in the area of 50th Street and 47th Avenue,  a few blocks east of the Alberta-Saskatchewan border that runs through the city's core.

RCMP identified the victims in a news release Monday.

Police say investigators believe the killings were targeted and that the crime was isolated.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.

"We understand the concern this incident has raised within the community," RCMP said in Monday's news release.

"Please be assured that our officers are fully committed to solving this case and bringing those responsible to justice. While the investigation is ongoing, we want to emphasize that there is no ongoing threat to the public."

Autopsies were expected to be completed last week. RCMP have declined to comment on potential suspects or the manner of death.

Police are urging anyone with information on the killings to contact RCMP.
