Farmer leaders threaten to ‘even scores’ with Punjab govt after meeting with CM Channi postponed

A meeting between farmer leaders and Punjab CM Channi was fixed for December 17 but postponed on Tuesday to December 20. Irked by this, the farmers said they would "even scores" with the government.
All efforts made by the Congress-led Punjab government to stay in the good books of the farmers’ unions, including supporting their year-long agitation, seem to have evaporated after a meeting between Chief Minister Charanjit Channi and the farmers was rescheduled on Tuesday.
After ending their protest at Delhi’s borders, farmers’ unions reminded the Punjab government of its promises including loan waivers for farmers, monthly stipend for the unemployed and compensation to the kin of farmers who died by suicide. To discuss the same, the farmers sought a meeting with the chief minister, which was fixed for December 17.
