CM Uddhav Thackeray called the decision the 'power of the common man', while Sharad Pawar said 'it will not be forgotten that farmers were compelled to protest for a year'.
The three political parties -- who are allies of the Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra, have welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to repeal farm laws. While Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray called it "power of the common man", NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said "it will not be forgotten that farmers were compelled to protest for a year".
CM Thackeray, who is recovering from a surgery, in a statement said: "There was opposition to the farm laws across the nation. There were agitations in several parts of the country, some are still underway. The ones who fed us lost their lives, unnecessarily. But farmers showed their power. I salute them. Better late than never, the Centre realised, the PM announced it on Guru nanak Jayanti and I welcome it."
