Lata Mangeshkar passes away: Condolence messages poured in for the legendary singer from across the globe as the likes of Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam and Sri Lanka batter Dimuth Karunarathne took to social media to pay their tributes.
In a testament to the saying that music knows no boundaries, condolence messages for Lata Mangeshkar poured in from all over the world, including from across the border, after the legendary singer passed away aged 92 on Sunday, February 6.
Considered one of India's biggest cultural icons, Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar died due to multiple organ failures at a Mumbai hospital on Sunday. She was admitted to the hospital in January and passed away 28 days after she first contracted Covid-19.
The Indian government announced 2 days of mourning for the legendary singer, whose fame has transcended generations. Lata Mangeshkar, who began singing during her teenage days, has worked in more than 1000 films and sung close to 30,000 songs in a number of Indian and foreign languages.

It was no surprise that condolence message poured in from every nook and corner of the country to the singer, who loved her cricket. While Indian icons, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar, mourned the loss of the national icon, cricketers from across the globe took to social media to pay their tributes to Lata Mangeshkar.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam took to social media to pay his tribute to the late singer, who touched the lives of millions across the globe.
"End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide. An unparalleled icon! RIP Smt. Lata Mangeshkar Ji," Babar said in a tweet.
