Far-right Israeli ministers' remarks on future of Gaza draw rebuke from State Department
Fox News
The State Department rebuked comments from far-right Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir calling for migration of Palestinians out of Gaza.
Smotrich, the current Israeli finance minister, and Ben Gvir, the national security minister, have recently called for Israel to maintain control of the Gaza Strip after the war and for the voluntary – not forcible – resettlement of a large portion of the Palestinian population currently living there. "We have been clear, consistent, and unequivocal that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land, with Hamas no longer in control of its future and with no terror groups able to threaten Israel," Miller's statement continued. "That is the future we seek, in the interests of Israelis and Palestinians, the surrounding region, and the world."
