IPL 2022, SRH vs CSK: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway broke the CSK record for the highest partnership set by Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson from 2022 during their stand of 182 against SunRisers in Pune on May 1.
Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad joked about his record-breaking opening partnership for the franchise along with new partner Devon Conway against SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, saying his former opening partner Faf du Plessis might have been a bit jealous seeing him and the New Zealand opener go about their business on Sunday in Pune.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway stitched a 182-run opening stand, breaking Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson's record from 2020. The South Africa star, who is now leading Royal Challengers Bangalore, had stitched 181 along with Watson for CSK against Punjab Kings in an IPL 2020 match.

It was only the 2nd time in IPL 2022 Ruturaj and Conway opened for CSK after their forgettable outing together in CSK's defeat to KKR in the season opener. The New Zealand star had headed back home for his marriage before he rejoined the squad and took his place in the XI on Sunday.
Ruturaj and Conway began slow on what the opener said was a tacky pitch at the MCA Stadium in Pune, managing just 40 runs in the first 6 overs. However, Ruturaj teed away, tacking the attack to SRH bowlers, including Umran Malik, as he finished with 99. Ruturaj fell one short of a hundred in front of his friends and family who had come to watch the match at his home ground.
