BMC chief Iqbal Chahal responded to BJP leader Mohit Kamboj’s claims that the former has property in the United States. The BMC chief dismissed the allegation and said it was an attempt to rope him into a political controversy.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has dismissed allegations levelled against him by BJP leader Mohit Kamboj that he has property in the United States. The BMC chief claimed that the facts were being twisted to malign him and drag him into a political controversy.
On Saturday, BJP leader Mohit Kamboj alleged that Iqbal Chahal has property in the United States and said that he is going to inform the Income Tax Department about the same.
Responding to the allegations, BMC chief Iqbal Chahal said, “The allegations levelled against me by Mohit Kamboj today are baseless and an attempt to drag me into a controversy. It is really sad and unfortunate that he is trying to rope me in his political fight. I have zero property in USA. I would request him to substantiate this wild allegation with exact details.”

He further clarified, “The claim made by Sameet Thakker in his tweet dated March2, 2022, that Income Tax department is all set to inquire me personally was maliciously, mischievous and factually incorrect. Hence, a complaint was immediately lodged against him. IT dept notice mentioned by Mohit Kamoj was a routine notice to seek information from BMC with effect from 2018 onwards regarding the IT matter relating to Yashwant Jadhav. This is only an inter-departmental sharing of information.”
Iqbal Chahal said that the allegations were an attempt by the BJP leader to drag him into a political row.
