Fact-checking Lauren Boebert's story about a man getting beaten to death outside her restaurant
CNN
Boebert's story is inaccurate, according to records obtained from local authorities; the man was determined to have died because of "methamphetamine intoxication," not homicide. But the records do suggest the man may have been involved in a physical altercation shortly before he collapsed.
Boebert, a Republican, told the story to Fox News in a 2014 feature piece on the restaurant's gun-packing servers. She told it during her successful 2020 campaign for Congress. She told it at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February 2021. And on Wednesday, she told it again on the floor of the House of Representatives during a debate about a bill that would require background checks for gun sales by unlicensed or private sellers.More Related News
