Fact Check: Delta plus virus may have got its foot in the door in India, but it's not the dreaded third wave yet

Some people are claiming that the new Delta Plus variant cases have already marked the beginning of the third wave in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. India Today's AFWA found that as of now, there is no evidence to prove the same.

Even before India could take a sigh of relief and the deadly second wave of Covid-19 was waning, a new mutant variety of the virus called Delta Plus had already raised its ugly head. Some experts have expressed their concern that this variant might be capable of dodging immunities, acquired either from vaccine or earlier infections. On June 25, Maharashtra reported its first Delta Plus variant death.
