After an illegal building came crashing down killing 12 people, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is facing a major challenge to vacate residents from 407 dilapidated and unsafe buildings in Mumbai. According to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, out of these 407 buildings, 322 are privately owned and have been designated in the C1 category that means that they are unsafe for occupation. BMC also plans to demolish these buildings, however, before that the civic body has to convince building residents to vacate the area.Of the 407 dangerous buildings which are marked in the C1 category (which need to be demolished and are beyond repairs), 59 are BMC-owned, 26 belong to the state government and 322 are privately owned.More Related News
