An explosive device was found under the car of a Punjab policeman. The Punjab Police suspects that the IED was prepared in Pakistan.
An improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered under a Punjab policeman’s car in Amritsar on Wednesday, July 17. Cops said the bomb, weighing about 2.5 kg, was likely prepared in Pakistan.
An FIR has been registered.
It looked similar to the IED recovered in Tarn Taran in May. It, too, had come from Pakistan. We're looking into a suspected terror angle. We should have more information on this in 24 hours,” Punjab ADGP RN Dhoke said.
On May 9, two men were arrested in Tarn Taran district on the charge of carrying out terror activities. An IED packed with RDX in a metallic box weighing over 2.5 kg was recovered from the two. The IED was fitted with a timer, detonator, battery, and shrapnel. The arrested men admitted that they were carrying out the activity for money and drugs.
