Dinesh Karthik celebrates his 37th birthday on June 1. He has already been awarded with a call up to the national team after a stunning Indian Premier League with the RCB.
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik celebrated his 37th birthday on 1 June. The right hander, who has been awarded with a national team call up in the T20I series against South Africa, has had a very good time in the Indian Premier League.
Playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Karthik turned out to be one of the most exciting finishers in the tournament, scoring 330 runs at a strike-rate of 183.33. Dinesh Karthik's rise came as a surprise to the fans considering he had been in a terrible patch of form with the bat at Kolkata Knight Riders. He has dropped from captaincy and then KKR chose not to retain him for the 2022 campaign. Karthik had a commentary stint in England during the 2021 England series, something that sparked speculation of his retirement.
The batter, however, was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore after an intense bidding fight with Chennai Super Kings and flourished in a swashbuckler role. Karthik showed a different dimension to his game and made a name for himself with his adaptability in different conditions. He earned plaudits for being able to access all parts of the ground against both spinners and pacers, which got him back into the mix in the run up to the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Australia later in 2022.
The cricket fraternity hailed Karthik's incredible turnaround in fortunes on his birthday and wished him the best. The fans and cricketers came together to celebrate the veteran's perseverance, a trait that has seen him make numerous comebacks over the years.
Consistency and perseverance summed up in one pic. Once a legend, always a legend. Happy Birthday, @DineshKarthik https://t.co/zbNL6uGAYG
