Ex-Marine leads plea for Congress to hear exiled Afghan resistance leader's warnings
Fox News
A petition calling for Congress to host or visit with exiled Afghan resistance leader Ahmad Massoud will be presented to the legislature in the near term, its signatories said Thursday.
There, elements opposed to Taliban rule stuck it out until they were forced to flee — including Massoud, who escaped to neighboring Tajikistan. He reportedly was joined by at least one official from the deposed U.S.-backed democratic government: former Vice President Amrullah Saleh. Charles Creitz is a reporter for Fox News Digital.
Saleh sought refuge in Dushanbe, the Tajik capital, as of 2021, according to France24 News. He joined Fox News in 2013 as a writer and production assistant.
