'Equal pay for equal work not fundamental right': Bombay HC, dismisses plea
India Today
The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court dismissed a plea filed by MCVC instructors, who demanded pay at par with full-time MCVC full-time teachers.
A Nagpur bench of Bombay high court Justice Sunil B Sukhre and Justice Rohit B Deo said "'Equal Pay For Equal Work' is not a fundamental right but a constitutional goal" while deliberating on a seminal issue of whether the Minimum Competency Vocational Course (MCVC) instructors are justified in claiming pay scale at par with the full-time teachers in MCVC. “The consistent judicial view is that the doctrine of “Equal Pay For Equal Work” is not abstract and does not operate in a vacuum."More Related News
