AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran urges Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to prevent police personnel from committing offences.
Reacting to the arrest of a policeman in connection with the sexual assault of a minor girl, AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Sunday insisted that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin take efforts to ensure that police personnel do not commit offences.
Mr. Dhinakaran, in a social media post, referred to the sexual assault of a 14-year old girl in Madurai district in which a policeman had been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“The arrest of the policeman, on the very day a legislation imposing stringent punishment for crimes against women and children was brought in, has led to the loss of trust in police personnel,” Mr. Dhinakaran said.
