Murugesan, working as an English teacher in a government school in Tamil Nadu’s Srirangam, was arrested for sexually harrassing a Class 12 student while she was writing an exam.
An English teacher, working in a government school in Tamil Nadu’s Srirangam, was arrested for sexually harassing a Class 12 student while she was taking an exam.
The student stated that Murugesan, working as an English teacher in Hajyar Muhammad Yusuf government school in Inam Kalathur, was behaving towards her inappropriately while she was taking an exam.
The child had not realised what happened at first, but when she reached home, she was shocked and she informed her parents.
Nearly 500 villagers gathered outside the school and protested, which led to authorities reaching the school.
Post this, Inam Kalathur police conducted an inquiry with the student and her classmates. Based on this, the police arrested Murugesan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Further investigations are underway.
