England vs India: India should think about opening with Rishabh Pant in T20Is, says Wasim Jaffer

ENG vs IND, T20I series: Rishabh Pant is set to take part in the three-match T20I series against England that is set to get underway on July 7.
Former batter Wasim Jaffer reckoned that Team India should use Rishabh Pant as an opener to get the best out of him in T20Is. Pant made his T20I debut back in 2017 during a home series against England, but hasn't quite been able to establish himself in the shortest format of the game.
The southpaw has played well for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but hasn't quite played the knocks of substance as consistently for the national team. Although Pant has done exceptionally in Test cricket, having already scored five centuries, he is yet to show a whole lot of consistency in the limited-overs formats.
Even in the five-match T20I series against South Africa, the 24-year-old looked a tad out of sorts. In 48 T20Is, Pant has scored only 741 runs at an average of 23.15 and a strike rate of 123.91 with three half-centuries to his name.
The Young Turk is now set to take part in the T20I series against England that is set to get underway on Thursday, July 7. Ahead of the white-ball series, Jaffer asked the Men in Blue to think about opening with Pant.
Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, "Indian think tank should think about opening with Rishabh Pant in T20Is. I think that's the spot where he can blossom."
