Jasprit Bumrah (6/19) and Mohammed Shami (3/31) rattled England's top-order as the hosts folded for a below-par score of 110 in just 25.2 overs.
England limited-overs captain Jos Buttler called the team's 10-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the first ODI as "tough loss".
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami rattled England's top-order as the Three Lions folded for a below-par score of 110 in just 25.2 overs at the Kennington Oval, London on Tuesday (July 12).
The likes of Jason Roy, Joe Root and Ben Stokes departed for ducks as Bumrah took six wickets while Shami bagged three wickets. After a poor outing with the bat, England's bowling unit too failed to break Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 114-run opening partnership.
"Yeah, obviously a very disappointing day. It was a tough loss to take," Buttler said in the press conference.
"There was obviously a little bit in the wicket early on and I thought Jasprit Bumrah especially exposed that fantastically well. We had the big guns coming back in.
"They've all been in some of the best form of their life, playing Test cricket so it proves that it wasn't easy out there, but we must look and think is there a way we can try and manage it better, try and not lose as many wickets at the start, and we've got to learn quickly."
Captain Buttler backed his players to come good in the second ODI against India at Lord's on July 14.
