Encanto Movie Review: Disney film is enchanting with its dazzling animation
India Today
Disney's latest offering, Encanto, hits the right notes with its amazing animation and loveable characters. The film released in theatres on November 26.
It isn’t easy to wear the tag of being Disney’s 60th animation film. Encanto opens with a reminder that this is the studio's big-ticket offering in a year. Does it live up to the prestige it’s bestowed and manage to sound and look as entertaining as its predecessors? The answer is a resounding YES!
Encanto is a simple story of a magical place where a Colombian family lives in an enchanted house that speaks and moves and dances and sings. Every member of the family goes through an initiation ceremony where his/her power is discovered. From being able to lift a horse cart, change shapes, hear distant thoughts in someone else’s mind to summoning the weather gods to change as per the mood, everyone in the Madrigals family has a superpower. Everyone but one - Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz), who holds the tag of being a non-magical member of the family. Standing out like a sore thumb in a family of superheroes, she begins doubting and questioning her very existence. But the existential crisis doesn’t last too long as the family eventually relies on her to rescue them from a catastrophic event that could destroy the legacy of the Madrigals.
