Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Jammu and Kashmir today for a two-day visit that will draw global attention, with its highlight being a yoga programme on the banks of Srinagar's Dal Lake tomorrow. This is his first visit to the Union Territory after being elected for a historic third term.

With PM Modi's visit coming amid a spate of terror attacks in the Union Territory, massive security drills have been taking place in and around Srinagar. Security measures are stringent, with designated "red zones" restricting movement in these areas, secured by elite SPG (Special Protection Group) personnel.
The entire area, including Raj Bhavan and SKICC, has been subject to thorough security sweeps throughout the night, an official confirmed, highlighting the deployment of Marcos and SPG units to safeguard the venue facing Dal Lake.
This is the third consecutive time that the BJP has emerged as the largest party in Maharashtra, which is undoubtedly a historic feat, Prime Minister Modi said.
Mr Chadha pointed out that the three seats in which the AAP emerged victorious had never been won by the party before.
Speaking to reporters in Nagpur as the ruling coalition was on its way to win a massive victory in the assembly elections, she said her son, currently a deputy chief minister, knows how to overcome challenges.
