A clip showing an elephant stuck on a mud island in Gaula river in Nainital is doing rounds on social media.
For the past two days, the situation in Uttarakhand has been deteriorating as torrential rains triggered flash floods in several areas of the state. Reports of the collapse of a portion of a bridge in Haldwani due to the furious rise of the Gaula river have also surfaced. Visuals of water from the river flowing furiously and swiping away anything in its path have gone viral. A video, shared on Twitter by IFS officer Surender Mehra, has left netizens in shock. In the clip, the elephant can be seen helplessly trying to find its way out from the flooded area.
