Chased from fields, her herd encountered a railway line. They crossed on time, except her little calf. She died protecting him from the incoming train. We say we will die for our families. Elephants actually do. https://t.co/Op7YFyPqHv pic.twitter.com/izEFOvsi6z Just heartbreaking Absolutely heartbreaking...this’ll haunt me 4 a long timeWe’ve failed ‘em...not only d govts aren’t doing anything 2 mitigate human-wildlife conflicts but those of us that do care aren’t raising our voices enough! Unfortunate..! We forget nature when we think of development. This will haunt me forever . So sad Terrible tragedy Ganga and her herd were chased from fields and encountered a railway line on the path. All the elephants crossed the railway tracks except for a little calf. Without batting an eyelid, Ganga stopped to rescue the calf as a train approached, and in the process, she died as the vehicle hit her. Ganga, thus, died while protecting her calf.
