An electric bike that was put in charge caught fire in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli on Monday night. Ramarajan, a resident of Ambasamudram who owns a cellphone shop, had bought an e-bike eight months ago.
On Monday, September 27, he put his electric bike on charge and was talking to his friends near his home, when the group saw smoke emanating from the bike.
Shocked by this, people attempted to put off the fire by pouring water on the e-bike. But, this resulted in it heating up rapidly and burning. The heat that emanated from the bike was so high that it broke the clay tiles beneath it and left a dark spot on a portion of the wall next to where it was charging.
Vikramasingapuram Police have initiated an investigation.
