
Elections a qualitative leap in country’s legislative work

Doha: Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulwahed Al Hamadi stressed that the Shura Council elections which took place yesterday represent a qualitative leap in the field of legislative work in the country, as it expands popular participation.
The Minister, in remarks made to Qatar News Agency (QNA), described the day as historic and noted that the Shura Council elections are taking place for the first time since it was established back in 1972. He added that he has no doubts that the council in its new image will help realise the ambitions and the aspirations of the Qatari people, and will work on conveying the concerns of citizens transparently to decision makers, which will improve the performance of the government.
The Minister greeted and thanked Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, on this new move in the journey of sustainable development in the State of Qatar.
