Election Commission removes Howrah Rural SP after TMC fields his wife from Sonapur Dakshin

The EC has removed the Superintendent of Police of Howrah (Rural) after his wife Lovely Maitra was given a ticket by the TMC for the West Bengal Assembly election.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday removed Superintendent of Police of Howrah (Rural) Soumya Roy after his wife was given a ticket by the ruling Trinamool Congress for the assembly election in West Bengal. “Soumya Roy has been removed. His wife Lovely Maitra is a candidate and he will not be involved in the election process in any form,” a source in the EC told India Today. The TMC nominated SP’s wife for the Sonapur Dakshin seat in South 24 Parganas district.
