Eisha Singh revealed that she auditioned for Kareena Kapoor’s role in Laal Singh Chaddha. The actress recently made her Bollywood debut with Middle-Class Love.
Kareena Kapoor won hearts with her performance in Laal Singh Chaddha. However, she was not always the first choice for the role. Before her, several actresses had auditioned for the role. One of them was Middle-Class Love star Eisha Singh. In a new interview, the actress talked about auditioning for Laal Singh Chaddha, along with several other films.
Eisha Singh told Hindustan Times, “I auditioned for a couple of films before (Middle-Class Love). I even auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddhaa, do you know that? They were searching for a newcomer initially and I auditioned for it. Somebody told me that Aamir Khan really liked my audition. Though it did not work, I met him for another project.”
Eisha added, “We did three scenes and I enjoyed most of it. I have watched Forrest Gump thoroughly, so I really enjoyed it. I think I was nice, but maybe I wasn’t good. My dad was watching me (audition) and I was very nervous. Everytime dad is on set I get very nervous. Though he is the coolest and loves my work. It (the movie) did not work out, which is fine. Later on I got to know that Kareena Kapoor ma’am is doing it, so I was fine. I don’t care if 50 more people auditioned for it. The fact that I auditioned for it, and they considered me, thought I was eligible to be a part of a big film like Laal Singh Chaddha and be paired opposite Aamir Khan was a big thing for me.”
Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of the Hollywood film, Forrest Gump, which featured Tom Hanks. The Hindi adaptation features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in crucial roles. Even before its release, Laal Singh Chaddha made headlines due to multiple controversies. Netizens called for a boycott of the film over statements made by Aamir and Kareena in the past. The two stars requested fans not to boycott Laal Singh Chaddha and asked them to watch the film in theatres.
