ED searches in 5 states in case of corruption, misappropriation of MGNREGA fund

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches in Jharkhand and four other places in connection with a case related to corruption and misappropriation of MGNREGA funds.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches in Jharkhand and four other states in connection with a case related to corruption and misappropriation of MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act) funds to the tune of Rs 18 crore.
Earlier, the ED had arrested Ram Binod Prasad Sinha, the then section officer and junior engineer of Kunti, Jharkhand.
Ram Binod Prasad Sinha was arrested after 16 FIRs were registered against him by the Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau.

He was accused of misappropriating Rs 18 crores of MGNREGA funds in 2007-2008.
Later, the ED filed a Prosecution Complaint (chargesheet) against Ram Binod Prasad Sinha.
During Sinha's questioning, names of senior bureaucrats who could have been part of MGNREGA fund misappropriation were revealed. IAS Pooja Singhal was among others whose names cropped up during the investigation.
