ED questions Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik in case linked to Dawood Ibrahim, underworld elements

The ED has questioned Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister Nawab Malik in a money-laundering probe linked to the activities of the Mumbai underworld, fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides, officials said.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is questioning Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik in connection with a case related to elements linked to Dawood Ibrahim and the underworld. The minister had been being questioned since 8 am.
According to sources, the summons was issued for Malik to appear before the probe agency in a case registered against underworld gangster and fugitive terror financer Dawood Ibrahim, his brother Anees, Iqbal, aide Chota Shakeel and others.
Last week, raids were conducted at multiple locations across the city which included the residence of the late Haseena Parkar, who was the sister of Dawood Ibrahim.
Iqbal Kaskar, the fugitive brother of Dawood was taken into custody last week while Haseena Parkar's son Alishah Parkar was questioned by the ED on Monday.
Recently it had come to light that Dawood Ibrahim's gang was active in the country and were running terror activities in an attempt to disrupt the law and order here.
Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chota Shakeel along with his brother Anees Ibrahim are running hawala operations, betting syndicates, and illegal real estate businesses in Mumbai and other areas. Extortion activities are also being carried out by the gang.
