ECI weeds out political parties indulge in fraudulent transactions

The ECI has taken action against political parties that are indulged in fraudulent transactions.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is cracking its whip on political parties across states for activities such as - incomplete, false documents, hawala transactions and illegal tax benefits.
From Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh, political parties are on the ECI radar.
Under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Rajiv Kumar, the commission is on a mission to delist the unrecognised parties.
After taking over as CEC, Rajiv Kumar got an investigation done into unrecognised political parties.
After scrutiny, the ECI has taken action against more than 2,100 registered unrecognised political parties for flouting rules.
Uttar Pradesh-based Jan Raajya Party, Maharashtra-based Jantawadi Congress Party, Tamil Nadu-based Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi are all on the ECI Radar.
"Since May this year, we have started a drive to clean the political system. We have started weeding out those parties have been indulging in fraudulent practices. Our investigation is an ongoing process, we will clean the entire system, " an ECI source told India Today.
