A medical practitioner, Dr Archana Sharma, died by suicide in Rajasthan's Dausa on Tuesday after a murder case was filed against her. On Saturday, the Deputy Superintendent of Police was suspended in connection with the case.
A medical practitioner, Dr Archana Sharma, died by suicide in Rajasthan's Dausa district on Tuesday after an FIR was filed against her under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the death of a pregnant woman at her hospital.
Following her death, doctors from across the country joined hands to register a protest against the harassment of those in the medical field.
Among the protesting doctors' demands was that the Deputy Superintendent of Police be suspended. On Saturday, DSP Shankar Lal Meena was suspended after Director General of Police ML Lather issued orders for the same.
On Wednesday, officer in-charge of the Lalsot police station in Dausa, Ankit Chaudhary, was placed under suspension.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Jitendra Gothwal who is one of the five arrested in the case said, “The government will continue to be unjust but I will continue to fight against it.”
He will be produced in court on Saturday.
He allegedly took part in the protest that was organised after the death of the pregnant woman. It is following the protest that a murder case was filed against Dr Archana Sharma.
