Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal got involved in a controversy during the final of the Duleep Trophy between West Zone and South Zone at SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore.
On the last day of the match, Jaiswal engaged in a war of words with middle-order batter Ravi Teja. Thereafter, Rahane was seen having a chat with Jaiswal, who seemed pretty animated.
Rahane, apparently, warned Jaiswal after the seemingly ugly incident in the park. In the end, the 34-year-old Rahane sent his teammate out of the park and West Zone fielded with only 10 players. However, later Jaiswal came back to the park.
As far as the match was concerned, West Zone defeated South Zone by 294 runs. After being asked to chase down 529 to win, South Zone were bowled out for 234 in 71.2 overs.
Opening batter Rohan Kunnummal and Ravi Teja scored 93 and 53 runs respectively, but their efforts went in vain. Shams Mulani picked up four wickets in the second innings to break the backbone of South Zone’s batting.
Keeping aside the controversy, Jaiswal had an excellent outing. After getting out for one in the first innings, the left-handed batter scored 265 off 323 balls in the second.
