Delhi University registered a total of 98.3% attendance on the first day of the offline examinations.
Delhi University recorded an ‘impressive’ 98.3% on the first day of offline examinations, as physical examinations were conducted post a gap of two years in spite of prolonged protests by some students against conducting offline, in-person examinations. The offline examinations had begun on Wednesday for second and third-year undergraduate students and a total of 67,948 had appeared for the examinations that are being conducted in two sessions across courses.
Delhi University Dean of Examination DS Rawat informed the news agency PTI that a total of 44,311 students, i.e., 97.5% of registered students appeared for the examination while 1,124 registered students did not appear for exams in the morning session.
He further informed that the attendance in the evening session stood at 99.8%, in which 23,637 registered students appeared for the examination out of 23, 684 registered students.
The dean of examinations termed the numbers on the first day as ‘impressive’.
"I would say it is better than previous years. This has come despite inertia among students against the physical mode of examination. There were some protests as well,” he said further.
Dean of Examination DS Rawat further informed that students who weren’t able to appear for the examination due to Covid-19 infection or being quarantined due to someone in their vicinity testing positive will be provided another chance in August.
"(Such students) will be asked to provide medical certificates and they will be given another chance in August to give the exams,” the dean added.
