Delhi University's academic council is going to hold a meeting to discuss the changes in the university's admission process.
If a proposal in this regard is approved by the Delhi University's decision-making bodies, admission to colleges affiliated to the university might completely be dependent on a candidate’s scores in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores starting in the next academic year. To deliberate upon the varsity’s decision about the changes in colleges’ admission process, DU’s academic council will be meeting on Tuesday in view of DU adopting the CUET or entrance test system.
As per the decision taken in the academic council’s meeting, Delhi University will be discarding the previous admission criteria centered around the announcement of cut-offs based on Class 12 board results.
Additionally, the eligibility criteria for appearing in the CUET in terms of Class 12 board exam scores will be the passing marks.
To discuss the changes in admission criteria considering the DU’s decision to opt for the CUET from the academic year 2022-23, the varsity’s academic council will meet on March 22, 2022.
The university’s executive council (highest decision making body of DU) meeting that is going to be held on March 25 is likely to take up the decision taken in the meeting of the academic council.
In a meeting on March 17, the academic council's standing committee suggested that admission to the university be completely based on CUET scores.
The members had stated that it would not be feasible to include any alternate criteria based on board examination marks, as per the minutes of the meeting.
