Drugs worth Rs 15 crore seized in TN’s Thoothukudi

On Tuesday, a team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 5.2 kg of drugs worth Rs 15 crore from a fiber boat at Kovalam beach near Mullakadu sea shore, in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi.
A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 5.2 kg of crystal methamphetamine drugs worth Rs 15 crore from Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi on Tuesday.
The drugs were seized at around 9 PM last night from a fiber boat at Kovalam beach near Mullakadu sea shore. It was when the officials intercepted the boat that a person present on the boat jumped into the sea and made an escape.
Meanwhile, officials seized the drugs that were found on the boat. The international value of the 5.2 kg of crystal methamphetamine is estimated to be Rs 15 crore.
The DRI officials suspect that the drugs were being smuggled to Sri Lanka.
