A man who illegally blew through the Canada-U.S. border crossing in Surrey, B.C., Sunday morning has been arrested, according to authorities.
Canada Border Services Agency contacted local police around 8:45 a.m. to inform them a white pickup with Washington state licence plates had driven into the country “without stopping,” a statement from the Surrey Police Service said.
Soon after, a vehicle matching the description was seen driving dangerously and weaving into oncoming traffic on King George Boulevard near 64 Street.
“SPS officers then successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup truck. Although vehicles were damaged, there were no injuries to the officers, the suspect or other drivers on the road,” the news release from the SPS said.
Photos and video from the scene show multiple SPS vehicles surrounding the pickup, which smashed through a guardrail and landed in a shallow ditch.
The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information or video to call 604-599-0502.
