Don’t fall for iPhone 12 at Rs 24,000 ads, Apple will never sell it at that price
India Today
The ads say that the iPhone 12 can be bought at an effective price of Rs 24,000. Now effective does not mean that the price of the phone is down to Rs 24,000.
Of late, there have been too many ads on the Internet claiming that the iPhone 12 can be bought for as low as Rs 24,990. Now, if you get excited by looking at such ads, you need to think or, maybe read the advertisement again. Most advertisements that make such boisterous claims mention one word which is too important to be overlooked. The ads say that the iPhone 12 can be bought at an effective price of Rs 24,000. Now effective does not mean that the price of the phone is down to Rs 24,000. It simply means that the phone can only be purchased at a discounted rate only after applying for various discounts and offers.
Apple will never sell its flagship device for as low as Rs 24,000. Even the iPhone SE 2020, which is almost two years old, does not sell so cheaply. So, when you see an ad that claims to offer the iPhone 12 for Rs 28,000, you need to know that the exchange value has also been included in the effective price. The exchange value may differ as per the condition, brand and year of your phone.
Now, when you spot a similar ad, there are a few things that you need to remember. Apple has slashed the price of the iPhone 12 to Rs 65,900. However, if you apply certain deals, you can get the phone at a much less price at Aptronix, one of Apple’s Premium Resellers in India. Aptronix claims that the iPhone can be purchased at an effective price of Rs 24,900. The retail store was offering a flat discount of Rs 9900 on the iPhone 12. The flat discount brings the price down to Rs 56,000. Additionally, buyers will also get a cashback on selected bank cards. If you make a payment using ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, or SBI, you can get a cashback of Rs 5,000. Now comes the exchange offer that can provide you with the biggest discount on your new phone.
As far as Aptronix is concerned, it says that it will provide you a maximum value of Rs 23,100 if you trade in your iPhone 11. However, the price entirely depends on the condition of your phone. On top of this, Aptronix will also offer you Rs 3000 as an exchange bonus, so that gives you a discount of Rs 26,000. Now coming to how much of this actually works. My iPhone 11 is almost three years old and after checking the condition of my phone, Aptronix offered me Rs 17,000 for the phone along with the exchange bonus of Rs 3000. So this brings the price to Rs 20,000, which in my opinion is not a bad deal at all. However, the bigger question is whether I would want to exchange the iPhone 11 for the iPhone 12, considering there is nothing major that tempts me to switch to the next model. There is a change in design and change in the processor of course, but my iPhone 11 is still relevant and maybe I could use it for two more years. So the bottom line is, you will only get a high exchange value, if you sell your old iPhone 11 or iPhone XR. The exchange value will be low even if you trade in your old Samsung flagship phone.
So when you read such ads, reports on the internet always check the value of your old phone and then head out to the store to buy the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13.
