West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerje met with the representatives of political parties in Darjeeling and asked them not to eat 'Delhi ka laddu'.
In a meeting with the representatives of hill parties in Darjeeling, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she wanted to work for the people of the hills and asked them not to eat 'Delhi the laddu' in a jibe at the Centre.
"Yesterday I met four political parties in the hills. I want everyone to work together. We want to work for the people in the hills. Darjeeling is smiling. I would ask you not to eat 'Delhi ka Laddu'," she said.
Slamming the central government, she said, "To mislead people about price hikes, they are using central agencies. During elections, they claim they are the protectors of the country. Which is not true."
During the meeting, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha pitched for a permanent political solution for the hills within the ambit of West Bengal, virtually putting its long-pending demand for a separate state on the back burner.
GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said the party presently wanted a permanent political solution to ensure the development of the people of the hills.
On Monday, a GJM delegation, along with members of the Hamro Party, held a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a scheduled five-day visit to North Bengal.
Banerjee, who is on a five-day visit to North Bengal, presided over a meeting with representatives of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) and Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha during the day, following which she called for the establishment of a three-tier panchayat system and a new GTA body in the Hills.
