Former domestic cricketer Sitanshu Kotak will be in charge of India A’s series against New Zealand A, which starts on September 1.
Indian domestic cricket stalwart Sitanshu Kotak has been named as the head coach of the India A team in the upcoming series against New Zealand A, which starts on September 1. Kotak was named as the head coach in the absence of VVS Laxman who had to replace Rahul Dravid after the latter contracted Covid-19 ahead of the Asia Cup.
Former India leg spinner Sairaj Bahutule will join Kotak in the coaching staff for the three Test matches in Bengaluru and Hubbali, and three one dayers in Chennai.
The BCCI now has a pool of coaches employed under the aegis of NCA and they are rotated across assignments of A, Emerging (U20) and U19 teams.
At times, they are also sent on overlapping senior team assignments, like Kotak was in Ireland and Hrishikesh Kanitkar was in Zimbabwe.
Kanitkar is likely to oversee the U-23 Emerging Intra NCA tournament
The BCCI have named a strong Indian team for the New Zealand series with Priyank Panchal as the captain and KS Bharat as the wicket keeper of the side. Emerging Indian Premier League stars have been shown faith by the board as well, with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Umran Malik getting picked into the 16-member squad.
