A 60-year-old man with mucormycosis or black fungus was successfully treated by doctors at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Bihar’s capital Patna. Doctors said the size of fungus was equivalent to a cricket ball. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the surgery took place on Friday and went on for over three hours. The patient, Anil Kumar from Jamui, is currently stable. He had recently recovered from Covid-19 but later contracted black fungus. The fungus entered Kumar’s brain through his nose but did not spread to his eyes and due to this, his eyes remained unharmed during surgery, Dr Manish Mandal, the medical superintendent of IGIMS, told the Hindustan Times.More Related News
