Suryakumar Yadav rubbished suggestions from a journalist if he would open the batting for India in T20Is, asking if they wanted to see KL Rahul dropped from the side.
Suryakumar Yadav laughed at a journalist who posed the question if he would open the batting for India in the Asia Cup, asking if they wanted KL Rahul to be dropped from the side.
Yadav played a scintillating knock of 68 runs from 26 balls and it proved to be the difference for India on Wednesday against Hong Kong. The Indian team secured a 40-run win to book their spot in the Super Fours stage.
The right-handed batter was forced to play a fast knock as KL Rahul struggled against the Hong Kong bowlers. The Indian opener scored just 36 runs from 38 balls, with many unhappy with the knock.
In the post-match press conference, the 31-year-old was asked if he would open the batting with Rohit Sharma at some point ahead of the T20 World Cup. Yadav, as quoted by NDTV, laughed at the suggestion and asked the journalist if they wanted to see KL Rahul to be dropped from the side.
"Do you want us to drop KL bhai? (KL Rahul)," said Yadav.
The 31-year-old continued to say that Rahul is returning from an injury and needs time to get back to form. Yadav said that he is flexible and ready to bat at any number and has already told the team management about it.
