Do parents really have favorite children? Here’s what new research says
Fox News
A new Brigham Young University study explores parental favoritism, revealing that daughters and youngest children often receive preferential treatment.
To do this, they gathered a large set of existing studies conducted between August 2015 and April 2022, according to a university press release. "Parents should work on being open to hearing the perspective of their kids without being defensive." Khloe Quill is a lifestyle production assistant with Fox News Digital. She and the lifestyle team cover a range of story topics including food and drink, travel, and health.
Searches for terms like "parental favoritism," "siblings" and "differential parenting" in multiple databases led the researchers to at least 243 studies. After applying certain criteria, the pool narrowed to 30.
