A divorced woman from Assam was confined, sexually abused and her infant daughter tortured by a man she met on an online matrimonial portal.
A divorced woman’s hopes of finding love again were cruelly shattered when a man she met on a matrimonial site confined her, sexually abused her and tortured her infant daughter over the course of two months.
According to the woman’s police complaint, she is a resident of Assam and has a four-year-old daughter from her previous marriage. Hoping to marry again, she created a profile on a popular matrimonial website. Here, the 27-year-old came in contact with a man named Prince Raj Arya, a widower living in Triveniganj in Bihar.
The two got to know each other and as matters progressed, Arya offered marriage to the woman and asked her to come to Bihar. The woman arrived in Triveniganj with her daughter, and had a temple wedding with Arya. After this, her horrifying nightmare began.
The woman has alleged that Arya confined the two of them in his home for two months, during which he brutalized her and had unnatural sex with her. He filmed the sexual assaults and threatened to post the videos on social media if she did not agree to his demands. In this way, he blackmailed her and extorted Rs 7 lakh from the victim.
Arya also subjected her four-year-old daughter to physical abuse. He would tie up her hands and feet and give her electric shocks. He used to thrash both mother and daughter and torture them by placing a metal rod between their fingers and pressing down.
The woman and her daughter eventually managed to make their escape and approached the police. A case was registered and police seized the mobile phone used to record the obscene videos of the victim. Arya was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Triveniganj Supaul DSP Ganpati Thakur said further investigation is underway in the case. Meanwhile, the woman has appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma to facilitate her return to her hometown.
