Distribution of library kits to govt. schools begin

The Hindu distributes library kits for children in government schools with Muthoottu Mini Financiers as part of CSR initiative.
Distribution of library kits, which include eight books for children brought out by The Hindu, for government schools, began here on Friday (January 10).
The kits are being distributed as part of the corporate social responsibility initiative of Muthoottu Mini Financiers, in association with The Hindu Group of Publications.
The event was inaugurated at the Elamakkara Higher Secondary School, Kochi. Kits will be distributed to libraries of 150 schools in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
Inaugurating the distribution of kits, P.E. Mathai, chief executive officer of Muthoottu Mini Financiers, said the project would help create reading habits among students. He also elaborated on the role of banking and financial industries in society.
M. Durga Menon, head teacher, said the books would be a valuable addition to the school library, which was being renovated.
Suresh Kumar Pillai, general manager and business head of Kerala, sales and distribution, The Hindu, welcomed the gathering. Kiran James, chief marketing consultant, Muthoottu Mini Financiers, was present.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
