Dismissed cop, journalist dupe businessman of Rs 4 lakh in Mumbai, arrested

A dismissed police officer along with a journalist allegedly duped a businessman of Rs 4 lakh. The duo, along with two more people, were arrested.
A gang of four people, including a dismissed head constable and a journalist, have been arrested by the Agripada police station in Mumbai for allegedly cheating and duping a businessman of Rs 4 lakh.
The dismissed cop, identified as 52-year-old Chandrakant Gaware, posed as a crime branch official and threatened the business for money. He was previously booked in cases of dacoity and cheating.
His aides Yogesh Lad (40), a ward boy, Sagar Singh (39), a journalist and Naved Parmar (28), who sells mobile phones, were all arrested after a trap was laid.

The police, while scanning the CCTV footage, spotted Gaware and managed to nab him along with the others. Parmar, the journalist, was found out to be a repeat offender with cases of half murder, robbery and burglary in his name.
On April 27, the complainant, who owns and runs a gold-melting business around the Mumbai Central area, approached the police after four people duped him of Rs 4 lakh, saying that he lacked the necessary approval to run the business.
The 36-year-old Mohammed Siraj told the police that four men walked into his premises around 2 pm and told him that he did not have the required licenses and permissions to run the business.
