Director, CEO of Virar hospital in custody over ICU fire that claimed lives of 14 Covid patients

Two top officials, including the director of the Vijay Vallabh Hospital in Virar, have been arrested. A total of 14 coronavirus patients lost their lives in a fire that broke out on the second floor ICU of the hospital on Friday.
Maharashtra Police have arrested two top officials of the private hospital in Virar where a fire in the ICU claimed the lives of 14 coronavirus patients. The arrests were made by the Crime Branch on Sunday afternoon, said officials. Those arrested have been identified as Vijay Vallabh Hospital's director and chief administrative officer Dr Shailesh Pathak (47), and chief executive officer Dr Dilip Shah (56). On Saturday, Union minister Ramdas Athawale visited the Vijay Vallabh Hospital and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.More Related News
