Dilip Ghosh engages in war of words with police over Covid norm violation in Bengal's Hoogly

BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh allegedly engaged in a war of words with police officers during an event in Hooghly over violation of Covid-19 norms.
The Bharatiya Janata Party's national vice-president Dilip Ghosh on Sunday entered into an argument with the police during an event at Chandannagar in Hoogly. Ghosh participated in a program of Prime minister's Mann Ki Baat, organised by the locals.
Police said they stopped the event for allegedly flouting Covid-appropriate behaviour. Dilip Ghosh allegedly engaged in a war of words with the police officers refusing to step back. He participated in the programme and left the place an hour later.
The BJP alleged that the police's repeated attempts to stop Dilip Ghosh was intentional. Ghosh told the media, "We didn't break Covid protocols. It was the police who brought over 200 personnel, which I believe led to the violation of the Covid norms."
Notably, this is not the first time Dilip Ghosh was stopped for flouting Covid norms. On Saturday, he led a campaign of party candidates in Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation election. Police claimed atleast 50 people were present at that gathering, which is a violation of the Election Commission's campaign directives.
Dilip Ghosh had been stopped earlier in Asansol for the same reason.
