Differently-abled teen raped in Karnataka’s Haveri; 1 held, 1 absconding

A differently-abled teenage girl was gang-raped in Karnataka’s Haveri district on Tuesday. Police have nabbed one of the accused and have said that they will nab the other accused within a day. The victim gave clues to the police that helped them identify the culprits.
A differently-abled teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped in Karnataka on Tuesday evening, June 1. Police have arrested one accused, identified as Madiwalar (38). Another accused, identified as Yashwanth (38), is absconding.
Both the accused hailed from Shivamogga district, while the crime took place at Tiluvalli village in Haveri district, reported The Times of India.
The survivor, a 19-year-old bedridden girl, used to be alone at home after her parents left to work and her younger sister left for school.
According to the report by the Times of India, the accused, who ran a shamiana business, were in Tiluvalli village on business for the past several days.
They had noticed that the survivor used to be lying on a cot outside the house till her family returned.
On Tuesday, they snuck up to the house, gagged the girl, took her inside the house and committed the crime, said the police. The younger sister, who had returned from school, caught the accused in the act.
Upon hearing the younger sister’s screams, the accused bolted.
