Am 1. Januar 1928 warb Ernst Reuter, damals Berliner Stadtrat für Verkehr, im „Vorwärts“ für die Gründung der BVG. Es ging um ein einheitliches Tarifsystem für Untergrundbahn, Straßenbahn und Omnibus. Die Reform, so der Sozialdemokrat, „legt den Verkehrsunternehmen die Pflicht auf, mit größter Anstrengung an der Verbesserung und am Ausbau des Verkehrs zu arbeiten“.
Die BVG gibt es immer noch, aber ihre Pflicht sieht die öffentlich-rechtliche Anstalt längst anderswo: Sie investiert ihren Etat lieber in die Agentur Jung von Matt, die mit „lustigen“ Werbekampagnen an Verbesserung und Ausbau des Images arbeitet. Die neueste Idee: ein essbares „Hanfticket“.
