Dhokha Round D Corner director Kookie Gulati says 'it's not just about star power anymore, it is about content' | Exclusive

Kookie Gulati's film Dhokha Round D Corner releases on September 23, 2022. The director feels everything isn't just about star power anymore.

After working on The Big Bull, director Kookie Gulati experiments with another genre in his upcoming film, Dhokha Round D Corner. The film features R Madhavan, Aparshakti Khurana, Darshan Kumaar and Khushalii Kumar. Dhokha Round D Corner is a thriller which will hit the big screen on September 23, 2022. Ahead of the film's release, IndiaToday.in exclusively spoke to Kookie Gulati about his upcoming movie.

In the recent past, a couple of Bollywood films haven't worked well at the box office. When asked Kookie if he is worried about releasing Dhokha Round D Corner at this time, the director said, "Oh, not at all! I think the space that we are in right now is the space where people are recognising content. And I don't think I could have come at a better time [than this]."

He further mentioned, "During the pandemic, people have seen so much. Whatever they would have seen in 10 years, they have seen in two years. They are not only exposed to Hindi cinema but also world cinema. It includes Indian cinema other than Hindi. And I think that has opened up their minds where people have actually started seeing detailing and they have started seeing the content. I am sorry to say, but it's just not about star power anymore. It is about content."

Having said that, the director mentioned that star power will always help everyone because stars are the ones that people look up to. "But everybody will have to pull up their socks and really work on the content and make really good films. I think I couldn't have come at a better time when the audience is so aware. That's why we have got a phenomenal response to the teaser. Much better than I ever expected," he added.

While the film is directed by Kookie Gulati, it has been produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Dharmendra Sharma, and Vikrant Sharma. Dhokha Round D Corner will clash at the box office with Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Deol's Chup on September 23.
