Dharmapuri collector inspects basic infrastructure in remote hill hamlets

District Collector K. Shanthi inspects infrastructure, hands over homes to Irular families, and addresses community needs in Eriyur block.
District Collector K. Shanthi undertook an inspection of basic infrastructure at the Irular colony in Eriyur block on Wednesday.
The Collector inspected newly-built homes and handed them over to 13 Irular families at Anna Nagar.
Interacting with the residents, Ms. Shanthi urged them to send their children to the Anganwadi centre and the government school. Inspecting the quality of the houses constructed by the Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department, the Collector advised the families to maintain the houses. The Irular habitation was provided with water connectivity under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Collector instructed the officials to construct toilets and a common burial ground. She also visited the West Emanur colony and interacted with the residents, who placed various demands including toilet and road facilities. At Athu Mettur, the residents demanded water connectivity and assistance for a differently-abled student. The Collector assured that action on the demands would be expedited.
Later, inspecting the panchayat union middle school at Emanur panchayat, the Collector perused the learning outcomes and teaching outcomes of the students and urged the teachers to augment learning outcomes, especially in Tamil, English and Mathematics.
Later, Ms. Shanthi travelled to Singapuram and interacted with the residents of the remote habitations. She held consultations with the block development officials and instructed them to organise special camps to provide Aadhaar and other basic documentation and also fulfil the basic infrastructure and amenities.
